STUDENT CALL
ArtsPartners of Central Illinois is proud to announce a call for entries to young artists for Sky Art Peoria. Sky Art Peoria is a juried competition that puts the work of local artists on Adams Outdoor 48’ x 14’ billboards that are seen by thousands of local residents. This is a value of over $37,000 in free advertising awarded to each winning artist. New in 2022, the Sky Art Peoria program will receive submissions from students under the age of 18. Up to one billboard will be designated to showcase a winning student’s submission. ArtsPartners and the jury reserve the right to select no winner. Entry into Sky Art Peoria for students is free.
The mission of ArtsPartners of Central Illinois is to build awareness and strengthen the arts for the economic and cultural enrichment of central Illinois.
Eligibility
- You must be under 18 years old to apply. Anyone over 18 should apply to the adult program HERE.
- You must be a resident of and a student in Peoria, Tazewell, or Woodford counties. (Students that are homeschooled are eligible.)
- Sky Art Peoria is not just for 2D artists. If you are a 3D or performance artist and can photographically represent your work, you can enter.
- All art is subject to approval, and no offensive or slanderous work will be accepted.
- Submissions must be the work of one individual or entity. Collaborations/teams will not be accepted.
- Your work must fit the correct proportions/dimensions of a 48’x14’ billboard.
- You can create an original piece for Sky Art Peoria or crop one of your existing pieces to fit the correct proportions. A video tutorial is available on the ArtsPartners website on how to format and submit your art.
- Art submitted with incorrect proportions will not be accepted.
- We welcome entries from all artists regardless of race, ethnicity, religion (creed), age (within the eligibility requirements,) political affiliation, gender, gender expression, national origin (ancestry), disability, marital status, sexual orientation, or military status.
- Artwork is shown to the jury anonymously.
- ArtsPartners and the jury reserve the right to select no winner.
Important Dates
- Call Opens on March 8, 2022
- Submissions deadline is April 3, 2022.
- The winning artist (if any) selected by the jury will be notified by the end of May of 2022.
- The winning artist (if any) will be announced to the general public via press release in June.
- The winning artist’s work (if any) will be displayed from June 2022 - May 2023 on a billboard, with locations circulating throughout the region.
- The winning artist (if any) will have the opportunity to showcase their work in a Sky Art Peoria Gallery Exhibition during the month of October any will be further acknowledged at an opening reception event taking place on the First Friday in October.
How to Enter
Please note: You will submit a smaller file via artcall.org. If you win, you will be required to supply a high-resolution file that will produce a 48' x 14' billboard.
Artists must be able to supply a digital image of their work meeting the following requirements. All production costs for the printing of the billboards will be borne by the program.
Your artwork must fit the billboard proportions. Images submitted with incorrect proportions will not be accepted.
Entry Requirements
Please submit the following by April 3, 2022.
- A brief artist statement that explains your medium of work and include a brief explanation why you would like to be part of the Sky Art Peoria program.
- Each artist can submit up to 3 pieces per entry.
- JPEG
- 1920 pixels x 500 pixels
- 72 ppi/dpi
- 4 MB maximum
- There is no entry fee for the student program
- A Parent/Guardian Consent agreement must be uploaded on your account page. (There seems to be a bug for some users when uploading the agreement, if you're unable to upload, please email your parent agreement to info@artspartners.net)
Winning Artists Requirements
The winning artist (if any) must provide production work that fits the requirements of a 48’ x 14’ billboard.

- 24.333” w x 6.333” h @300 dpi (7300x1900 pixels)
- 300 dpi
- CMYK color space
If the work is not already to scale, Adams Outdoor Advertising has the right to manipulate the image to comply with production specifications. Artwork that does not meet the specification requirements will not be considered.
All billboards will rotate upon available locations in the market. There are no guarantees on billboard locations or the period of time an image will be at a specific location.
